The Annual St. Paul Kirchenfest 2017

Why Do We Do This?

It’s quite simple – because we love the Lord!!!  And, as disciples of the Lord, we want to share the gift of his love with all.  The Kirchenfest enables us to pass on the gift of faith to our community, through the funds generated.

Here we are, laboring year after year, to put on a festival for guests and parishioners of St. Paul Catholic Community, Highland, IL, to provide a weekend of fun, food and drink, friendship and prayer.  Last year this annual event grew to a three-day event, formerly two.  Three evenings and two days of celebrating, August 25, 26 and 27.

Any denomination is welcome to attend the Kirchenfest to pray with us at Mass on:

  • Saturday, August 26 at 4:00pm and 5:30pm in the church
  • Sunday, August 27 at 7:30am in the church and at 10:00am, our Annual Polka Mass will be celebrated under the South Tent

We welcome everyone to be our guests as we extend to you our hospitality.  There will be a large variety of food, including a Chicken Dinner on Sunday.  Come see the huge skillets where German Food is prepared.  We will have games for kids and adults and rides for the kids, bingo, the infamous Mega Flea Market in the Gym (now Air-conditioned), craft and quilt booths and more and more and more.  Plenty of seating for every guest with entertainment day and evening in two separate big top tents.  Raffle tickets are also available to win a number of prizes, including a brand new Ford Focus!

One new addition this year will be our new mascots, “Kirk Von Fest” and “Tuba”.  Every adult and kid should come to meet them!

For our parishioners, please help as you are able.  Here’s the Set-Up and Tear Down Schedule:

  • Monday through Thursday at 6:00pm – Food and Drink each night at 8:30pm
  • Monday at 8:00am – Lunch provided around noon.  Lots of help is needed.

Not only is the Kirchenfest a great fundraiser, but it brings us all together at a time we need it most!  Invite your family and friends!  Join me in prayer for a great Kirchenfest with good weather and safety for all involved.  This annual event proves who we are and demonstrates the integrity of our faith at St. Paul Parish.  I am proud to be a part of it!

Thanks to our general chairpersons, Braden (Andrea) Henze and Jan Korte-Couch (Cliff Couch), Joe (Jessica) Horstmann and Linda (Keith) Hagler.  Call or email any of them, call a stand chairperson or the parish office to volunteer to help.

I join the parish staff and Kirchenfest chairpersons in thanking you ahead of time for your support of our 47th event.  Please come join us!

God’s blessings to you and prayers that the Lord will give success to the work of our hands,

Fr. Pat Jakel, Pastor
