Highland has spoken! The Kirchenfest is the best festival in town, according to “The Choice is Yours” contest. Kirchenfest, which is hosted on the St. Paul Catholic Church grounds in Highland, is a two-day, jam-packed event held every 4th weekend in August. New for 2016 – Kirchenfest will open on Friday night!
The festival offers great food, games for all ages, live music, an auction, and a raffle. Special events include a MEGA Flea Market, Jass tournament, Bingo, Kirchen Ride for bicyclists, and the Straussenlauf Run (2K, 5K, and 10K).
For many, food is the main attraction. This festival features the traditional German dish of sausage, potatoes, green pepper, onion and sweet kraut prepared in 4-foot Bavarian skillets. We also host a chicken dinner on Sunday in the air-conditioned parish hall. There are many beverage options, including a wine garden and multiple beer tents.
Each year, our raffle features a new car, a vacation, a hand-made quilt, a hog, and a steer.
Throughout Kirchenfest, live music is featured in two different tents. Bands play a wide variety of music, and entertain the public for free. Come out and join us “Where the Fun Is In-Tents!” on Friday – Sunday, Aug 26-28.
